Our Story
Thirty years of workdone with intention.
The Porch Company started with one home, one porch, and a belief that the places we create around us can change the way we experience everyday life. More than 30 years later, that feeling still sits at the center of the company. What Nancy Moore began in Nashville has been carried forward by Iris Levine with a deep respect for where it came from and the families who invite us into their homes today. Every project becomes part of someone’s story, a place where mornings begin a little slower, conversations last a little longer, and people naturally find their way back to one another. After all these years, that is still what makes the work worth doing.

Three chapters,one story.
The way we work has stayed largely the same for thirty years. Slow enough to catch the details, steady enough to earn the trust, and shaped around the way each family actually lives.
Chapter One
Dream It.
Every project begins with a conversation. We come to your home, walk through the space, and listen to how you want to live in it. What morning coffee looks like. Where the kids read after dinner. How a room needs to feel in October. There is no charge for this first visit and no pressure to move forward. We bring photographs, material samples, and enough experience with Middle Tennessee homes to sketch out real possibilities on the spot. You leave with a clear sense of what is possible, what it might cost, and how long it would take to build.
Chapter Two
Draw It.
Once we have agreed on a direction, we move into design. This is where every dimension gets measured, every material specified, every detail drawn. Our design fee runs between $6,000 and $10,000 depending on scope, and it is partially credited back against your signed construction contract. You will see full elevations, floor plans, and material selections before a nail is driven. This is also when we handle any HOA reviews, permit filings, and site-condition reports — the paperwork that turns a good idea into a buildable one.
Chapter Three
Build It.
When ground breaks, one project manager becomes your single point of contact for the duration. They walk the site with you each week, flag anything unexpected before it becomes a surprise, and keep the schedule visible in one place. Our carpenters, framers, and finishers have been building porches in Nashville for years — the same faces come back to the same neighborhoods, which is how the work stays consistent. When we hand you the keys at the end, every corner has been punchlisted, every finish has been checked, and the room is ready for the moments it was built for.

Every project starts as a conversation, and every conversation lands on the same handful of questions. These are ours, answered plainly.
We specialize in screened-in porches, open-air porches, front porches, and custom outdoor structures. Each project begins with the home itself and how you want to use the space, whether that means a quiet place to start the morning, more room to entertain, or somewhere the whole family naturally gathers.
It starts with a complimentary consultation at our Nashville showroom. We ask that you make an appointment and bring photos of your home so we can talk through your ideas, look at materials and past projects, and begin exploring what could work. We will also do our best to discuss an initial range for cost and timing so you can decide whether moving forward feels right.
That is one of the first things we consider. We study the architecture, rooflines, proportions, and details of your existing home before developing the design. The goal is for the finished space to feel connected to the house rather than like something that was simply added onto it later.
If you have a property survey or plot plan, bring it with you to the initial meeting. It can reveal setbacks, easements, property lines, and other limitations that may affect where a new structure can be built. If you do not already have one, you may need to work with a land surveyor before the project can move forward.
After the initial consultation, the next step is an on-site visit to measure your home and create the plans needed to accurately bid the project. The Porch Company currently charges between $6,000 and $10,000 for this design work depending on the scope, with a percentage of that fee credited when the construction contract is signed.
It really comes down to how you want the space to feel. If you need another heated and cooled interior room, a sunroom may make more sense. If you want the feeling of being outdoors with the comfort of a roof and screened walls, a screened porch gives you a very different experience of home. The Porch Company specifically defines a porch as a roofed outdoor living space with “walls that breathe.”
Nashville’s relatively temperate climate allows homeowners to enjoy a screened porch through much of the year, although The Porch Company does not suggest that most people will use one every day of all four seasons. How you plan to use the space can also influence choices such as radiant heaters, fans, fireplaces, and other features during the design process.
The Porch Company waits to break ground until the team is ready to focus on your project. Once work begins, the goal is to keep it moving efficiently, with a dedicated project manager keeping you informed and available when questions come up. You should be able to enjoy seeing the space take shape without wondering what is happening next.
